The APR is offering the opportunity to help its member parishes run a Quiet Day (or afternoon or evening) in their local church, as part of our mission to bring the experience of retreat to as many people as possible.

What we can provide

We are pleased to be able to offer an APR trustee or long-standing member with relevant experience to either run a Quiet Day for your church, or support a local church leader who wants the opportunity to lead their own event.

Our hope is that such Quiet Days can provide a catalyst for introducing the idea of silence and stillness in a non-threatening way to church members unused to contemplative prayer.

Before the day, the APR Facilitator can discuss possible themes or scripture passages upon which to focus the day, as well as running through a checklist of practical arrangements such as hospitality and follow-up actions for the parish to consider. They are also able to provide ideas for publicity within the local congregation and neighbouring parishes.

What you would need to consider

Costs for the APR Facilitator would include travel expenses, overnight accommodation (if necessary) and meals. Other costs to the parish or church group would include any publicity/printing, those associated with use of church building (e.g. heating in winter), and refreshments on the day.

For more information about the availability of an APR Facilitator, please contact the APR Administrator via the contact details at the foot of this page.
