The Retreat Association
The national retreats umbrella body, the Retreat Association (of which the APR is a founding member) offers contact details for retreat centres and events across the country, as well as some in Europe and further afield. The RA’s website offers a wealth of useful information, including notes on the different types of retreats and quiet days, as well as contact details for finding a venue for your retreat.
All APR member houses are listed in our Finding a retreat section. For a wider list, click here for the RA’s webpage containing regionalised links to dozens of retreat centres, from where you can check out their own websites to forthcoming programme of events.
However not all retreat centres advertise on the RA website. More listings are printed in their guidebook Retreats, which you will receive free each year through your membership of APR – but if you don’t want to join at the present time, you can still buy Retreats direct from the RA; the 2020 edition costs £11.50 (£9.00 plus £2.50 post and packing).
If you are looking for a retreat leader, you may wish to contact the warden of one of the retreat centres or email the Retreat Association office.
Spiritual Direction
Many people benefit from having a spiritual director, or soul friend, who can prayerfully accompany them on their journey through life. The Retreat Association website can help you find a spiritual director. On the website, you can also find information on spiritual direction training, as well as a useful set of Guidelines to encourage good practice across the church.
